Find and assassinate your target to possess them, gaining more time. Beware though, the body you abandon becomes a phantom that hunts you down!
Phantom was a game I created for the 3rd online 96 Hour Game Jam back in 2015 (though it was 72 hours for me, I stumbled upon it a day late). The rules for the jam were as follows:
I always loved a good challenge, and when I was thinking of finding a fun and challenging way to fight against yourself (and win), while dealing with the complexity of non-linear time and the requirement that it must be simple, I knew I had to participate.
In the end, I came up with Phantom. A game where every move you made became a phantom that haunted you in the next life. While the graphics are simple, and the code is a little hack’n’slash, I really do love how the core mechanics of the game interact with one another and how it fulfilled the theme and rules quite elegantly.
Even with the simple rules of this game, I felt reaching a high score required mastery, where you had to minimize the shots you made, and keep track of all your movements and bullets to evade their trajectories.
