The invention of the Empodio redefined war. A completely impenetrable shield, that even absorbed energy from attacks.
However, due to the complex circuity the shield must be affixed to either side of your mech, effectively meaning to fully utilize it you must turn your side to your enemies and do the one thing you should never do in fight - take your eyes off your opponent.
Excerpt from Empodio
Empodio is a small project that I made in around 5 days that I hope to continue. It uses many of the new tools I've learned in Unity such as ScriptableObjects, persistent scene management, particle systems, baking lights, and advanced UI elements.
The inspiration for this game came from a space invader like game I played on a plane. It was fairly generic and simple, but it had one interesting mechanic - attacks that hit you on your side were completely absorbed, giving you energy to use skills.
I absolutely loved the concept, where you had to intentionally run yourself into danger to effectively defeat your opponent, and decided to compound the intensity with what I found most horrific in games - when you lose sight of the boss and frantically searched left and right for their impending blow.
Manifesting those two points into a quick demo made in a few days, came Empodio.
